Dr. Joe Cohen received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree in 1979 and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology in affiliation with Yale University School of Medicine in 1983, having been the first osteopathic physician to practice in a specialty in the state of Connecticut.  He practiced there from 1983 through 1991 where he was Medical Director for The Women’s Center for Holistic Health as well as Family Health Network.

Having moved to Boulder in 1991 where he practiced for 10 years, he initially joined the Boulder Women’s Clinic before venturing on his own to form a multi-discipline group that combined conventional and alternative medicine.  This group was known as Full Circle Health Associates with offices in Boulder and Longmont, Colorado.  He was Chairman of the Department of the Department  Obstetrics, Gynecology and Pediatrics as well as Medical Director of The Center for Integrative Therapies at Longmont United Hospital.  He helped to bring alternative approaches such as acupuncture, reiki and massage into a hospital setting.  He was affiliated with Boulder Community, Avista and Longmont United Hospitals.  In 1993, he was awarded “Best Delivery Man” by Denver Westward magazine and was noted to have the lowest Caesarean Section rate in Colorado. He has delivered 10,000 babies over a career spanning 30 years.

In 2001, Dr. Cohen has worked with women from many cultures including Native American women of the Shoshoni and Arapahoe tribes in Wyoming and Maori women in New Zealand. He returned from New Zealand in 2009 at which time he devoted his practice to preventive medicine using a functional medicine model. This approach to women’s health has become his passion.    " Although we do an excellent job treating people when they are acutely ill, we must pay much more attention wellness and prevention.  We can then decrease the need for hospitalization, medication and surgery." Functional medicine teaches practitioners to look for the root cause of dis-ease and remove the triggers, rather than treating symptoms.  Upon his return the Colorado, Dr. Cohen worked with female prisoners and found this to be a considerable challenge.  He became involved with recommending medical cannabis to patients in 2010 after learning about the remarkable therapeutic effects of this powerful medicine. When appropriate, he provides his patients with MMJ recommendations along with a comprehensive approach to wellness.  He recently helped to create a non-profit organization that will assist women with breast cancer to obtain free cannabis for treatment of their disease.  Please go to www.cannabisforbreastcancer.org for more information.

Areas of interest include all aspects of women's health including bio-identical hormone replacement therapy,  diagnosis and treatment of complex medical problems including thyroid and adrenal disorders,
gluten sensitivity, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, autoimmune disease, healthy pregnancy and preconception counseling, prevention of osteoporosis and breast cancer.  He provides complete in-office examinations including pap tests.  Dr. Cohen no longer provides in-hospital services.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.
Live the life you’ve imagined.

Beth Kearns is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of Colorado and a certified Diplomate by the National Certification Commission in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She graduated from ITEA (Institute of Taoist Education and Acupuncture) in Lousiville, CO. She is also an advanced Neuro-Structural Integration Technique (NST) practitioner. She has practiced in Colorado for six years.

Beth specializes in the treatment of pain, anxiety, and depression, and is highly effective with many other conditions. She also provides preventative care.  Beth is passionate to help people overcome these conditions utilizing acupuncture, bodywork, nutrition, and wellness coaching. She is active in the community providing health education and group clinics.

Beth is highly skilled at practicing Worsley Five-Element Acupuncture. This method of acupuncture has the practitioner in the room the entire treatment constantly monitoring changes to the patient’s energy pattern. She focuses on getting to the root of an issue by careful listening, observation, and pulse diagnosis.

What’s different about Beth is that she is a good listener, lets go of her bias in order to be present to the needs of her patients, and takes into account the state of a person's body, mind, and spirit in order treat the whole person. Because no two people are alike, no two people receive the same treatment even if they have the same symptoms.

NST is a structural therapy for bodywork that works by resetting the nervous system to clear old, non-supportive patterns and to provide better communication throughout the body. NST can be incorporated into an acupuncture session or used as an individual session. It is can be very effective in treating sports injuries, pain, headaches, digestive and respiratory issues, and more.

In addition to individual clinical practice, Beth offers low-cost stress and pain relief acupuncture clinics for groups such as businesses, community centers, and addiction treatment facilities.

She teaches a 10-day cleansing program to groups and individuals. This cleanse is based on your individual needs and is clinically proven to support your liver in detoxifying, providing you with a foundation for great health.

Beth is available to your organization to give lectures on many health topics including acupuncture, depression/anxiety, grief, women's issues, wellness and prevention.
